Question: Why does the ACUKWIK.com distance calculator seem to default to nautical miles?

Our distance calculator always defaults to nautical as this is the predominant distance unit used in aviation (as opposed to statute miles or kilometers). The only time that nautical miles are NOT used in aviation is when distances of visibility are reported. They are given in statute miles.
