Business Jet Center Doubles Fuel Discount at OAK for AOPA Members

Business Jet Center is doubling the fuel discount for AOPA members at the Oakland International Airport (OAK) location from June 15 to August 15. The discount of 50 cents per gallon on avgas doubles the current 25-cent discount afforded to AOPA members at the OAK facility.

Nextant Gives Beechjet 400A/XP Extreme Makeover

Nextant Aerospace of Richmond Heights, Ohio, has an approved STC essentially to remanufacture the Beechjet 400A/XP series. Completed aircraft will be marketed as the 400NEXT.

This endeavor is a serious ground-up modernization program. It starts with the airframe stripped to the hull. Nextant replaces all wiring. A complete suite of Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics is installed.

Nextant installs a complete custom interior with all of the amenities of a 21st century work and digital entertainment environment. Window treatments are the latest technology. Zero-time landing gear, fresh inspections, winglets and custom paint are completed.

Finally, existing engines are replaced with the new Stage 4 Williams International FJ44-3AP, offering superior:

  • Economy
  • Range
  • Speed
  • Cabin comfort

Nextant is offering all of this in a value package that will catch buyers’ eyes.

Tail Numbers in BARR Program Available Through FOIA

In late February, a District Court judge in Washington, D.C., ruled that tail numbers blocked for distribution outside of the FAA through NBAA’s Block Aircraft Registration Request (BARR) program must be unblocked to comply with a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request. Speed Record Attempt Made from Historic OAK Terminal

The latest attempt at an airspeed record occurred on May 19 in the shadows of the 1920s Art Deco terminal at Oakland International Airport (OAK). Christopher Freeze and Rodrigo von Contra aimed to set a new speed record in a Class C aircraft over a recognized course between Oakland and Mojave (Calif.) Airport (MHV). They completed the course in a modified Mooney M20J and have submitted their required flight documentation to the National Aeronautic Association (NAA) in order to claim the record.

It's the 21st Century. Aren't we supposed to have flying cars by now?

We won't meet George Jetson or Jane, his wife, just yet. But a roadable aircraft is a step in the right direction. Check out the Terrafugia Transition and this video of a March 5 test takeoff and landing at PBG.

Here's hoping it brings us a step closer to robot maids.
