Montgomery Aviation Announces TYQ Runway Reconstruction

Indianapolis Executive Airport's 12,000 square foot all-weather canopy shields arrivals and departures from the elements.Montgomery Aviation has announced that Indianapolis Executive Airport (KTYQ) is reconstructing its 5500- by 100-foot runway with $4.3 million of federal stimulus money.
The existing asphalt runway will be completely redone in concrete. The 45-day project will begin the first week of May. The runway will be complete by mid-June.
"The Shack," the original 1960s terminal formerly housed Montgomery Aviation.This project is the latest of many airport improvements spearheaded by Dan and Andrea Montgomery of Montgomery Aviation.
In August 2000, Montgomery Aviation took over as fixed base operator and airport manager. Montgomery Aviation operated out of the original terminal constructed in the late 1960s when the field was known as Terry Airport.
Montgomery Aviation (TYQ).Within seven years, the original terminal building, affectionately called “The Shack,” was replaced with a new terminal flanked by two corporate hangars and offices with a total of 70,000 square feet of space.
The pièce de résistance is the 12,000 square foot all-weather arrival-departure canopy, the only one in Indiana. It is the main reason why Montgomery Aviation says, “We’ve got you covered.” But Montgomery Aviation also provides full concierge service, conference rooms, free Internet access and pilot lounges.
The Hamilton County Airport Authority, which owns and operates Indianapolis Executive Airport, has provided a 60,000 square foot jet ramp. In addition, the airport authority has completed a full-length taxiway, installed new runway lighting and new ILS and WAAS IAP systems.
