Volunteers Needed for Project to Benefit Boys & Girls Club at NBAA2010

The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) has invited those attending the Association's 63rd Annual Meeting & Convention (NBAA2010) in Atlanta, Ga., to be a part of something special by volunteering a weekend day in support of a project to benefit the Brookhaven Boys & Girls Club.

Hundreds of volunteers are needed for a day-long project on Sunday, October 17, which will be focused on making upgrades to the Brookhaven Club, located near DeKalb Peachtree Airport (PDK), the site of the NBAA2010 Static Display of Aircraft.

Volunteers will build a new playground, refurbish a teen center, resurface an outdoor basketball and volleyball courts, build an outdoor classroom, repaint walls and more. All upgrades will be designed with an aviation theme.

"We're really looking to establish a long-term relationship with the community here," said Bill McBride, volunteer project coordinator for the NBAA Local Committee and senior director of flight operations for The Home Depot. "NBAA sees returning to Atlanta as more than just holding a trade show - it's an opportunity to leave something behind."

Hands On Atlanta will manage the project, and NBAA Members and local businesses are providing additional support by donating lunch and soft drinks, volunteer t-shirts and first aid services.
