PONCA CITY - An aviation company announced Friday it has purchased a hangar at Ponca City Regional Airport and will use it to expand its maintenance, repair and overhaul operations.
Bridgeport, W.Va.-based KCI Enterprises Inc., parent company of KCI Aviation, said it expects to employ up to 15 people after one year with the potential to grow to 30 after three years.
The company said the MRO base will be housed in a 30,000-square-foot hanger and office facility it purchased from ConocoPhillips on five acres of land.
"KCI will primarily perform maintenance, inspection and repair on military and corporate aircraft and engines," the company stated in a news release.
KCI will also dispatch maintenance field teams from the location to customers throughout the Great Plains region.
The company expects to begin its Ponca City operations early next year.
KCI Aviation, founded about 60 years ago, said expanding into Oklahoma will allow KCI to grow its operations and serve more customers.
"We have worked diligently for many years to arrive at this milestone for KCI Aviation," said Chuck Koukoulis, president and CEO of KCI Enterprises. "Our dedicated employees' commitment to service excellence has paved the way for our success. This is the first step in our expansion initiatives."
