FuelerLinx Saves Time Spent Comparing Contract Fuel Prices

Gone are the days of dispatchers with eyes glued to spreadsheets trying to spot the best fuel prices in an endless column of numbers.

FuelerLinx, a new proprietary software system based in Van Nuys, Calif., can help flight departments eliminate the tedious task of searching for the best contracted fuel price. “We offer a complete contract fuel management tool,” FuelerLinx founder and president Kevin Moller said.

FuelerLinx analyzes contract fuel prices and compares them across locations and suppliers to determine the lowest fuel prices available at specific volumes. This clear-focus analysis has the potential to drastically change the way flight departments operate.

To place a fuel order, a subscriber only needs to identify the aircraft, choose an airport and indicate the amount of fuel needed. In short order, FuelerLinx will return the best contract fuel prices among all FBOs on the field in ranked order for the chosen fuel volume.

FuelerLinx, which debuted in January at the NBAA Schedulers and Dispatchers Conference in Long Beach, Calif., is pleased with their customers’ reactions. “FuelerLinx makes it much more attractive to compare prices," Charles Cope, CEO of Telluride, Colo., charter management company Peak Arrow Group, said. "It consolidates our fuel decision making, and in this economy, we cannot afford to make uninformed fueling decisions."

FuelerLinx offers aircraft owners the tools they need to implement cost-saving measures quickly and effectively. Typically, flight departments receive weekly pricing sheets from contract fuel suppliers and must compare location prices manually, a labor-intensive process for pilots and staff.

Another challenge that flight departments face when trying to analyze fuel data is that spreadsheets from different suppliers are not directly comparable, with vendors setting price breaks at different fuel volumes. FuelerLinx solves this problem by optimizing pricing data into categories that are directly comparable. FuelerLinx’s automated system is supported with data accuracy verification by AC-U-KWIK. “They’re a wonderful business partner,” Moller said.

FuelerLinx encourages flight departments to sign up with more contract fuel suppliers because of the time-saving software. “You still get to choose which fuel suppliers to use,” Moller said. “We don’t get involved in the fuel relationship. We are unbiased; we don’t ever see which fuel you purchase. We’re a stand-alone software that resides on your hard drive.”

In other words, flight departments are guaranteed total privacy for the prices they’ve negotiated with fuel providers. FuelerLinx does not have access to users’ trip information or prices negotiated with contract fuel suppliers.

FuelerLinx performs four key functions that would normally take hours down to only minutes. First, it finds the lowest fuel prices available in every market at the requested purchase volume. Then, with one keystroke, it dispatches release requests to fuel suppliers. Next, the system schedules all release requests in one calendar for easy reference. Finally, FuelerLinx tracks and reconciles every transaction.

FuelerLinx is priced to accommodate both small Part 91 operators and large Part 135 operators.

“The more fuelers you have loaded into the system, the better price quotes you’ll see across the board,” Moller said. “Not every contract fuel company has good pricing in every market.”
